For Teachers & Students
The Maritime Education Initiative provides FREE classes and transportation for students at the Maritime Event Center (MEC). Primary Education Guided Tours are open to 2nd-4th grade students from any school. Self-guided tours are open to classes of all ages. Reservations are required for both programs. Washington State's Essential Academic Learning Requirements are integral to our programs. A curriculum packet is provided for each museum program. Please see options below.
MEC Mondays Discovery Tours
Trading Connections Discovery Tour
Grades 2-5: Washington State is the most trade dependent state in the nation. Students play a fun trading game to learn how trade benefits them, explore why we trade and learn more about Seattle the Port City.
Group Size: 15 - 60
Tour Length: 45 minutes - 2 hours
Schedule: Morning Tour (9:30am - 11:30am) or Afternoon Tour (12:00pm - 2:00pm)

Self-Guided Discovery Tour
All ages: A self-guided workbook is available to facilitate your tour.

Tour Length: 45 minutes - 2 hours
